Baseball bat leads to charges
A man will have to answer to a charge after police got several reports of someone swinging around a baseball bat in Chatham.
Around 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Chatham-Kent police said they received multiple calls to the Wellington Street and Queen Street area about a suspicious man who was swinging a baseball bat.
The 26-year-old was located shortly after and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Warrant arrest and drug seizure in Wallaceburg
A Wallaceburg man is facing an additional charge after going to a local police station allegedly in the possession of drugs.
According to police, the 32-year-old turned himself in at the Wallaceburg station knowing there was a warrant out for his arrest.
While searching the man, police located an amount of suspected fentanyl. As a result, the accused was charged for possession of a drug.
Police search for stolen vehicles
Police in Chatham-Kent are looking for several items that were stolen from the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus, including a pair of vehicles.
Around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a break and enter at the school. An unknown suspect or suspects stole the following items:-A 2006 Green Ford FX5 car, Ontario plate BEXA 179 with University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus decals on the sides with a full tank of gas.
-A 2004 Grey Dodge RPC Pickup, Ontario plate 9999MD with a missing front bumper, front bumper damage and half a tank of gas. The pickup was last seen on Selton Line at around 1 p.m. Sunday with its University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus decals covered.
-Two Thinkpad laptops
-One Samsung tablet

False 911 calls
Police in Chatham-Kent are once again reminding residents to make sure they are calling the correct phone number when needing police assistance.
Over the past 24 hours, the Chatham-Kent Police Emergency Communication Centre received another 27 false 911 calls. Nineteen false 911 calls were reported the previous day.
911 is to be used for life-threatening emergencies or to report a crime in progress. The dispatch centre can be contacted at 519-352-1234 for all other non-emergency incidents. Anyone wishing to speak to an officer for a general inquiry can call 519-352-1234 extension 222.
Stolen Motor Vehicle, Assistance with Identity
The Chatham-Kent Police are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man as part of an active investigation into a stolen motor vehicle.
Police are hoping someone can identify the man pictured below.
