The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported 30 new cases of COVID-19 in the region Wednesday.
Among the new cases, eight are close contacts of confirmed cases, two are outbreak-related, one is community-acquired, one case is travel-related, and 18 are still under investigation.
There are 273 active cases in the region now. Local hospitals are treating 24 people who have tested positive for the virus and four of those are being treated in the intensive care unit.
There have been 13,475 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic, 12,801 are now resolved. Windsor Essex has had 401 COVID-19 related deaths.
There are eight active outbreaks in the community including two long-term care and retirement facilities, four congregate settings and two workplaces.
Ontario recorded 1,508 new cases of the virus out of 49,100 tests processed. There were 542 new cases in Toronto, 253 in Peel and 107 in the York Region. There were 14 COVID-19 related deaths in the province.
