Lambton Public Health reported another double-digit increase in new COVID-19 cases Thursday morning.
In its daily update the health unit said there were 28 new infections over the past 24 hours for a total of 2,479 since late March 2020.
The number of resolved cases increased by 21 to 2,246, the death toll remained unchanged at 47, pushing the active case count up seven to 186.
As of Thursday there are 11 institutional and school outbreaks, an increase of one.
Outbreaks have been declared at two more elementary schools, Confederation Central School and King George VI Public School. An outbreak declared on March 6 at Queen Elizabeth II Public School in Sarnia has ended. As of Thursday, 23 schools in Sarnia-Lambton had at least one student or staff case, 18 in the public board and 5 in the Catholic system.
Bluewater Health's COVID-positive patients went down one to five.
