Local health officials see fluctuating COVID-19 numbers

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is investigating another case of COVID-19 associated with a school, this time in Owen Sound.

The health unit is working with Timothy Christian School and health officials and say at this time there is no evidence of transmission in the school. It is the fifth instance of a COVID-19 case associated with schools in the past four days.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit continues to monitor high risk contacts throughout the Grey and Bruce region which is now 394.

There are 59 active cases, 10 of them variants of concern. Nine new cases were confirmed Monday. Two each in Chatsworth, Southgate and Kincardine, and one in Georgian Bluffs, Hanover and Owen Sound.

Huron Perth Public Health is monitoring 16 active cases of COVID-19 with one long term care home following outbreak procedures.

Ritz Lutheran Villa in Mitchell is following outbreak measures because of a confirmed staff case.

And one of the 16 active COVID-19 cases is a variant of concern.

Over 17,400 doses of the vaccine have been administered in Huron and Perth as public health continues to take appointments for those eligible in Phase 1 through their website at hpph.ca or calling 1-888-221-2133.

In Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph, public health officials traced 12 new cases in Wellington County over the weekend and report 27 active cases. There are three active cases in Minto, six active in Wellington North, and one in Mapleton.
