Fewer COVID-19 cases added in Midwestern Ontario today

Just a handful of new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Midwestern Ontario Tuesday.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added two new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, in West Grey and Blue Mountains. There are 35 active cases, of which 21 are variants of concern. Three residents are in hospital with the virus. There have been four fatalities in Grey Bruce, as well as two residents who succumbed to the virus outside of the region.  Only Grey Highlands, South Bruce and Huron Kinloss currently have no active cases.

Just two new cases of COVID-19 were added Tuesday in Huron Perth, after a whopping 32 new cases were reported on Monday. Both new cases were in South Huron. There are active cases in every municipality in the two counties, including eighteen in both Stratford and South Huron.  There are 68 active cases, with 43 of them being Variants of Concern. Five people are hospitalized with the virus. There have been 53 fatalities in Huron Perth.

Public health officials in Wellington County added just one new case of COVID-19 Tuesday.  There are 72 active cases, including four in Mapleton Township, and eleven in Wellington North. Across the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health region, there are 17 people in acute care with the virus, and 14 in Intensive Care. There are eight workplace outbreaks, two outbreaks at Guelph General hospital, and one daycare outbreak in Guelph
