Man arrested after allegedly assaulting police officer 

What started with a dispute between neighbours in Chatham, ended with a man being arrested for assaulting a police officer.

On Saturday night, Chatham-Kent police responded to a neighbour dispute. According to police, the conflict had to do with the use of fireworks.

During the investigation, one of the people involved became irate and allegedly tried to physically remove an officer from his property.

As a result, the 50-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a police officer.

He was eventually released with a future court date.

Police chase in Thamesville

Police took part in a short police chase on Saturday in Thamesville.

Chatham-Kent police were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Longwoods Road. According to police, a vehicle approached the R.I.D.E program and began to slow down.

As it reached the police officers, the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed.

A short pursuit was discontinued out of concern for public safety. Police have not provided any further details.

Allegedly impaired driver arrested 

Chatham-Kent police were able to get an allegedly impaired driver off the road on Sunday morning.

An officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop and through investigation determined that the driver was intoxicated.

The driver was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent police headquarters to provide breath samples.

The 21-year-old man registered readings exceeding the legal limit and was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and operation of a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration over 80mg/100mL.
