A group from Chatham-Kent has won almost $60,000 in a recent Lotto Max draw.
The six coworkers won $57,992 in the April 16, 2021 draw.
Donald Buchanan of Chatham, Amanda Legroulx of Blenheim, Jennifer Moreland of Chatham, Robert Fox of Blenheim, Ronald Nead of Chatham, and Terisa Dudar of Chatham have been playing the lottery together for a few years.
“It feels great – I can’t wait to win again! I bought this ticket on my way home from work the night before the draw,” shared group leader Donald. “When I found out about the win, I waited until Monday when I went into work to share the news with the rest of the group. I sent them a screenshot of the winning amount, then told them all to look at their phones. They were thrilled!”
Officials with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) said no one in the group has specific plans for their winnings yet.
The winning ticket was purchased at Grand Mini Mart on Grand Avenue in Chatham.
Friday night's Lotto Max draw has a record $140 million in prizes -- a $70 million jackpot and an estimated 70 Maxmillions prizes for another $70 million. OLG spokesperson Tony Bitonti said it's the biggest top prize pool in Canadian lottery history.
OLG said the Lotto Max jackpot has been growing for seven and a half weeks or 15 draws since the April 27, 2021 draw. The last $70 million Lotto Max jackpot winner was from the February 26, 2021 draw.
Tickets can be bought until 10:30 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021 for that draw.
