Man accused of damaging motel room items during argument with his mother
A 29-year-old Leamington man is facing charges after he allegedly damaged some items in a Wheatley motel room while he was holding a steak knife and arguing with his mom.
Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the scene just before 6 a.m. Thursday.
As a result of their investigation, the man was charged with mischief, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with his probation order by having a weapon in his possession. He was later released with a future court date.

Man accused of breaking into local men's shelter
A 19-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly broke into Hope Haven on Wellington Street in Chatham and took off with a blue and yellow hoodie and some bank cheques.
Police said they were called to investigate the break-in Thursday morning, adding that the suspect had allegedly removed an air conditioning unit from a window to get inside.
Officers were able to identify a suspect by reviewing some video surveillance and found him walking on Gray Street in Chatham Thursday afternoon.
When police caught up with him, he was allegedly wearing the same hoodie that was stolen.
The accused was charged with break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, and failing to comply with his probation order. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Dresden man accused of locking woman on her balcony
A 23-year-old Dresden man is facing charges in connection with a domestic violence investigation.
Police said they were called to an apartment in Dresden Thursday afternoon and learned that the man had allegedly locked the woman on her balcony while he was arguing with her.
When she called police, the man allegedly unlocked the door for her and left he apartment.
Investigators said they learned from the woman that it was not the first incident of domestic violence during her relationship with the man.
Police caught up with him Thursday night and charged him with forcible confinement, uttering threats, mischief, assault, and criminal harassment. He was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A dozen speeders stopped in Chatham
Chatham-Kent police said they stopped and charged twelve drivers during three separate traffic enforcement initiatives in Chatham on Thursday.
Police said eight of the drivers were stopped on St. Clair Street between Oxley Drive and Jackson Drive Thursday afternoon.
They stopped another alleged speeder on McNaughton Avenue West near Crane Drive -- and three more motorists were stopped and charged with speeding on Victoria Avenue between Ardleigh Drive and Victoria Court in Chatham Thursday night.

Man accused of driving while under suspension
A 21-year-old North York man who wasn't supposed to be behind the wheel has been arrested after police pulled over a vehicle that was spotted travelling at a high rate of speed on Bear Line Road Thursday night.
Police said an officer pulled the vehicle over at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday and learned the driver's license was suspended.
The accused was arrested and charged with speeding and driving under suspension -- his vehicle was towed from the scene and is set to be held in an impound lot for seven days.

DeWalt saw, wheelbarrow reported stolen from RONA
Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after someone broke into the RONA Building Centre on Colborne Street in Chatham and took off with a DeWalt saw and an Erie brand wheelbarrow.
Police said the break-in, which caused about $1,500 in damage, took place sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Thursday, adding that the total value of the stolen goods is estimated at $700.
