Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after a Black Lives Matter flag was reported stolen in Dresden.
Officers responded to a theft complaint in the community on Sunday afternoon. Through the investigation, police learned that an unknown man stole a Black Lives Matter flag from the corner of Main Street and North Street and then fled on a motorcycle.
According to police, the same flag had been removed from the area the night before and found in a nearby garbage can.
"We would like to remind everyone that hate or bias has no place in our society," Chatham-Kent police said in a media release. "This behaviour will not be tolerated here in Chatham-Kent as this form of discrimination undermines everyone’s safety. "
