The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance's (CKHA) board of directors welcomes a new board chair.
Following its annual meeting on Thursday, the board announced that Dr. Alan Wildeman will assume the role effective immediately. He succeeds Greg Aarssen, who has completed his three-year term as the inaugural board chair.
Wildeman joined the board back in September 2018, providing governance to both the Chatham and Wallaceburg site.
"I am honoured to have been selected as the next Board Chair for CKHA and look forward to working with the Board and administration to strive for the best patient care," said Wildeman. "The dedication of staff, physicians and volunteers at the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites is at the heart of CKHA fulfilling its mission for our region."
The new board chair's resume boasts itself. Wildeman was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan before spending 30 years working in southwestern Ontario. Before joining the CKHA he served as the president and vice-chancellor of the University of Windsor for a decade.
Wildeman holds a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science from the University of Saskatchewan and a Ph.D. in genetics from the University of Guelph and has extensive experience serving on community, provincial, and national committees and boards.

His renowned experience as an executive leader, as well as his academic pursuits and committee memberships, are well suited to the position," said Aarssen. "His leadership will ensure CKHA continues to flourish and succeed over this next phase of its journey."
