Knife waving man arrested and charged
Chatham-Kent police have arrested and charged a 37-year-old man for allegedly using a knife in a threatening manner towards an officer.
Police said they were called Wednesday evening about the man who was allegedly threatening a woman over the phone.
Officers were able to catch up with the man as he was riding his bicycle to the woman’s house on Queen Street in Chatham.
According to the report, the man was in possession of a knife and bat.
Police said when officers stopped the man, he held the knife in a threatening manner towards the officers, so they used pepper spray to help them place the man under arrest.
According to police, the man continued to be combative and spat on two officers while he was at police headquarters.
The man has been charged with uttering threats, two counts of being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of assault police.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police search for suspect last seen fleeing a Howard Township home on a red and white dirtbike
Chatham-Kent police are looking for a man who was last seen traveling southbound on Scane Road on a red and white dirtbike.
Police said a homeowner on Shewburg Road woke up Wednesday morning to find a man running from his garage with a bag of stolen tools.
According to the report, the man fled on a red and white dirt bike that was hidden close to the home.
Police said the man had dropped the tools during his escape and they were returned back to the homeowner.
The dirt bike was last seen traveling southbound on Scane Road.
