Man charged after colliding into police cruiser while impaired 

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 36-year-old man after his vehicle collided with a police cruiser at a traffic stop in Chatham.

Police say the cruiser was stopped with its emergency lights on when the driver turned a corner and collided with the vehicle, causing minimal damage.

The driver was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he allegedly blew more than four times the legal limit.

Police say the man was charged with operation while impaired with a blood concentration over 80.

He was released with a future court date.

R.I.D.E. in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent police conducted 175 vehicle checks during a RIDE program in Chatham on Friday.

According to police,  two provincial offense notices were given out and no drivers were found to impaired.
