COVID-19 cases jump in Midwestern Ontario

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is reporting a small spike in COVID-19 numbers.

The number of new new cases reported reached 15 on Thursday, eight of those cases are in Kincardine, six in Hanover and one in South Bruce. Two other cases were identified in people who reside outside the region.

The health unit hasn't clarified how those cases were detected but there are now a total of 25 active cases in the Grey-Bruce Region.

And while there are no outbreaks, the health unit is reporting five cohorts dismissed from schools, four of those at schools in Kincardine and one in Hanover.

Huron Perth Public health added another eight cases of COVID-19 Thursday, including six in Perth East, one in North Huron, and one unknown address. There are active cases, and one resident in hospitalized with the virus.

A new outbreak has been reported at Milverton Public School, where seven students and one staff member tested positive.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reports two residents with the virus are in intensive care. Six new cases were confirmed in Wellington County, where there are 20 active cases.
