Weekly COVID incidence rate trending lower

The local COVID-19 incidence rate has dropped.

Lambton Public Health said Wednesday that the rate of infection per 100,000 population was 26.7 for the week of October 24 to 30, down from 57.3 the week before. The positivity rate is also lower at 2.5 per cent from 3.8 per cent.

The health unit reported six new confirmed infections and 14 resolved cases in its daily update, lowering the active case count by eight to 35.

The death toll stands at 71 and there are three active outbreaks, unchanged from Tuesday.

Bluewater Health has three COVID-positive patients in hospital, down one.

Just over 80 per cent of eligible Sarnia-Lambton residents 12-years-old and up have been fully vaccinated for the virus, 83.6 per cent have had one dose of vaccine.
