Man accused of threatening police with a broken bottle

A 31-year-old Chatham man is facing several charges after he allegedly stole a bottle of vodka from the LCBO and then threatened police with it.

Chatham-Kent police said they were notified of the alleged theft on Thursday and when they were trying to arrest the suspect, he allegedly broke the glass bottle and threatened officers with it.

Police used a taser on him in order to subdue him and then arrested him.

He was charged with theft and assaulting police.

During their investigation, officers also learned that the man was wanted in connection with a theft at Shoppers Drug Mart earlier in the day.

As a result, he was charged with another count of theft and possession of stolen property.

The accused was taken into police custody pending a bail hearing.

Police find illegal drugs after pulling over stolen vehicle

A 38-year-old Walpole Island man is facing several charges after he was allegedly caught carrying some methamphetamine and some fentanyl inside a stolen vehicle.

Police said they found the man while they were investigating a suspicious person in the area of Argyle Avenue in Wallaceburg on Thursday.

Officers said they found the drugs on the man when they were searching him.

He was charged and later released with a future court date.

Alleged tool thief caught on camera

A 53-year-old Wallaceburg man has been arrested and charged after police identified him on video surveillance while they were investigating a tool theft in Chatham.

Police said a business owner contacted them after seeing a man on video stealing tools from a work place. He was also spotted entering personal vehicles.

Officers were able to identify a suspect after reviewing the video and later arrested him.

He was charged with theft and possession of stolen property and later released with a future court date.

Man arrested on warrant

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with a 24-year-old Wallaceburg man who was wanted for failing to attend court.

Officers arrested him on Thursday and he was later released with a future court date.
