Local COVID vaccination rate at 76 per cent

Lambton Public Health reported 19 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.

In its daily update the health unit also reported seven resolved cases, increasing the active case count by 12 to 94.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, there have been 4,551 confirmed infections, 4,379 recoveries and 78 related deaths.

The health unit also reported another outbreak in the community for a total of six. The latest was declared Wednesday at an unnamed workplace.

There are nine COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, down one from Tuesday.

The rate of infection per 100,000 population increased just slightly to 51.9 for the week of December 5 to 11, from 51.1 the week before. The positivity rate was 3.6 per cent, down from 3.9 per cent.

Since the vaccination rollout began in January, 207,314 doses have been administered including 100,637 first shots.

Lambton Public Health said 80 per cent of eligible residents five-years-old and up have had one dose of a vaccine, while 76 per cent are considered fully vaccinated.

Just over 11,100 third doses have been given since mid-September.
