The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) issued a flood outlook for Erie Shore Drive and the Lake Erie shoreline.
Strong, sustained winds beginning Monday morning could lead to flooding, shoreline damage, and erosion.
In a release, the LTVCA said the winds along Lake Erie could cause wave heights of around 1 to 1.5 meters in nearshore areas, with waves over 2 m on the open lake.
"Due to high lake levels, there is a risk that wave action could damage shoreline protection works and cause erosion all along the Lake Erie shoreline in Chatham-Kent and Elgin County, including along the high bluff areas," the release read.
There is also a risk of flooding along Erie Shore Drive in Chatham-Kent.
"Recently, winds of these speeds have caused flooding on some properties and put water onto the roadway," the LTVCA said.
The warning remains in effect until the morning of Tuesday, December 21.
The organization advised that people should take extra caution and avoid the shoreline during this time.
