Impaired driver arrested after crash

A 35-year-old Chatham woman is facing impaired driving charges after she allegedly hit a parked vehicle in Chatham Thursday night.

Chatham-Kent police said when they arrived at the scene on Delaware Avenue near Gladstone Avenue, they believed the woman was driving under the influence of alcohol, so she was arrested and taken back to police headquarters for breath tests.

Police said the woman was later charged with having a blood alcohol content over the legal limit, failing to surrender her license and permit, and driving with liquor readily available.

She was later released pending a future court date.

Crash in Chatham leads to charge

A 61-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to yield from a driveway after a two-vehicle crash on Grand Avenue East between Michener Road and Walker Road in Chatham.

Police said that was Thursday morning.

No injuries were reported and the damage was estimated at $3,000.

Ten drivers stopped for speeding in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are asking drivers to slow down -- and they handed out some tickets on Thursday to drive the message home.

Police said they stopped and charged ten motorists with speeding Thursday morning while they were carrying out traffic enforcement on Longwoods Road between Prince Albert Road and Caledonia Road in Chatham.
