The local death toll from COVID-19 has risen to 109.
Lambton Public Health said the latest death was a long-term care resident in their 90s.
The health unit reported 44 new lab confirmed cases of the virus Wednesday, as well as 51 resolved cases, lowering the number of known active infections by eight to 261.
There are 32 COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, down from 37, four of them are in intensive care.
The number of active outbreaks has gone down by one to seven. An outbreak previously declared at a congregate living setting with Lambton County Developmental Services has ended.
The weekly incidence rate per 100,000 population dropped from 431.7 to 278.3 for the week of January 23 to 29. The positivity rate is also slightly lower at 21.9 per cent from 30.8 per cent.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, there have been 8,875 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton and 8,505 recoveries.
