Two men allegedly spotted stealing from Chatham business

A 26-year-old man of no fixed address and a 44-year-old Chatham man are facing charges after they were allegedly spotted removing items from a business on McGregor Place in Chatham.

Police said they received a report shortly before 11 p.m. Monday about some suspicious activity at the business, adding that some people were seen taking items from the business and transporting them to another location a short distance away.

Officers said when they arrived, they found two men and a woman and they also recovered the stolen property.

The woman was released unconditionally.

The 26-year-old man was charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property and "other outstanding charges." He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The 44-year-old man was arrested for break and enter and possession of stolen property and he was later released with a future court date.

Woman arrested after suspicious person complaint

A 37-year-old Chatham woman is facing a handful of charges after police were called to investigate a suspicious person at a business on Colborne Street in Chatham.

Police said they showed up at the business early Monday afternoon and found the woman inside the store.

She was charged her with theft, possession of stolen property, and breach of probation. She was also taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Three arrests after police respond to theft complaint

Three people are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police were called to investigate a report of theft at the Superstore on St. Clair Street in Chatham early Monday evening.

When police arrived at the store, they learned that the individuals had already left the area, but security personnel were able to provide descriptions of the suspects and officers found them a short time later.

A 24-year-old Wallaceburg woman, a 32-year-old Wallaceburg woman, and a 50-year-old Dover Township woman were all arrested and charged with one count each of theft and possession of stolen property.

They were all later released with a future court date.

Tip about impaired driver in Tilbury leads to arrest

A 55-year-old Tilbury man is facing an impaired driving charge after police pulled him over in Tilbury Monday night.

Officers said they found the vehicle in the area of Morris Road near Lee Avenue at around 10 p.m. Monday and believed the man behind the wheel was driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters for breath tests and later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

The accused was later released pending a future court date.

Woman arrested for breaching release conditions

A traffic stop on Valentine's Day ended with an arrest after Chatham-Kent police found a Wallaceburg woman who was allegedly breaching her release conditions.

Police said the woman was released from custody with the undisclosed conditions on January 23.

She was arrested and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
