The local COVID-19 incidence rate continues to drop.
Lambton Public Health said Wednesday that the rate of infection per 100,000 population was 239.1 for the week of February 6 to 12, down from 266.2 the week before. The positivity rate is also lower at 22.9 per cent from 25.7 per cent.
The health unit reported seven new lab confirmed infections and 13 resolved cases in its daily update, lowering the known active case count by six to 142.
There are four active outbreaks, unchanged from Tuesday.
Since March 2020, there have been 9,499 confirmed cases locally, 9,236 recoveries and 121 deaths. The latest was an individual under 20-years-old who passed away at a London hospital. It is the youngest death linked to the virus in Sarnia-Lambton.
Bluewater Health has nine COVID-positive patients in hospital, one is in intensive care.
To date, 79 per cent of eligible Sarnia-Lambton residents five-years-old and up have been fully vaccinated for the virus, 83 per cent have had one shot.
The health unit also reported that over 60,500 third doses have been administered.
