The province is still on track to meet a March 1 timeline to remove more restrictions like the proof of vaccination.
There are also discussions about the province removing its mandate for vaccination policies.
Dr. Kieran Moore is the province's Chief Medical Officer of Health.
"They have done their intended purpose, to improve immunization to further protect Ontarians," said Dr. Moore.
Dr. Moore also stated the numbers are showing a steady drop in hospitalizations due to COVID-19.
"Our hospitalization rates are coming down very rapidly. They went up rapidly and now they're coming down in a very quick descent," summarized Dr. Moore. "And remember hospitalization is a later signal. So I do think the risk is less at a population level."
Some capacity limits were removed Thursday and the timeline to remove more on March 1 fits what the current statistics are showing.
"We've always said that they should be proportionate to the risk and balanced in their response and I think shortening it by three to four days this time from the 21st to the 17th was reasonable," Dr. Moore concluded.
