Truck convoy a 'contributing factor' in fatal Chatham-Kent crash

The Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has released the identity of the driver who died, following injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes of the 401.

The deceased has been identified as Robert Charron, a 43-year-old from Chatham.

The accident occurred on January 27, 2022, at approximately 9:30 a.m. just west of Bloomfield Road.

Two other individuals were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following the crash.

Police said that the ongoing truck convoy protest was indirectly involved and was a contributing factor to the fatal collision.
