Hike for Hospice sticking to virtual format

Plans are in place for the sixth annual Hike for Hospice in Chatham-Kent.

After the success of last year's virtual event, organizers have decided to stick with the same format so families can walk the trail anytime during the week.

The event will run from April 25 through May 1 at the Mud Creek Trail in Chatham.

"We received such kind feedback about the addition of the memorial signs on the trail that we are offering this opportunity again this year," said Giri Thommandram, the Hike for Hospice event chair. "If you can't make it out to Mud Creek, you can still participate remotely by completing your hike where you would like - a different trail, in your neighbourhood, or even in your house."

Registration for the virtual event is free but participants will be able to purchase a commemorative t-shirt in addition to the memorial signs.

Thommandram said participants are encouraged to collect pledges in support of the residents and families of the Hospice, adding that the funds will help families continue to receive end-of-life care at no cost.
