Bus mischief leads to drug charges

A Wallaceburg man has been charged with possession of drugs, mischief, and failing to comply with release conditions after a disturbance in Wallaceburg.

Police said a man allegedly punched a bus and pulled off a windshield wiper while demanding to board the bus in the area of McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg Tuesday afternoon.

The 29-year-old Wallaceburg man was found with a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine during a search, according to police.

Police also said the accused was previously released and placed on conditions to not possess or consume drugs and substances without a valid prescription.

Theft charges

Theft charges have been laid against a 44-year-old man from Chatham after he was allegedly caught on surveillance video stealing items from the Superstore at 791 St. Clair Street in Chatham Tuesday night.

Police said the suspect is accused of placing approximately $800 worth of items into his shopping cart and leaving the store with no attempt to pay for them.

Officers found him nearby and arrested him.

Speeder charged for driving without licence

Police in Chatham-Kent have charged an 18-year-old man from Chatham for allegedly speeding and driving without a licence.

Investigators said officers caught a silver SUV speeding in the area of Middle Line Tuesday afternoon and the teen was issued two tickets.

The passenger, a 51-year-old Chatham woman, was also issued a ticket for allowing an unlicensed person to drive a motor vehicle.
