Shoplifter charged after allegedly stealing hundreds worth of items from Chatham business
A 37-year-old woman is facing several charges after allegedly stealing approximately $475 worth of items from Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham.
Police said they were responded to the complaint Saturday afternoon. They learned the woman left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.
Officers said the woman was located a short distance away and placed her under arrest. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.
The woman was charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two could of failing to comply with her release conditions.
She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.-----
Police investigate break and enter at Chatham business
Chatham-Kent police are investigating a break and enter at the Liquidation Zone on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Police said they responded to an alarm at the business around 1- p.m. Saturday. Officers said an unknown suspect forced their way into the business which resulted in about $5,000 in damages.
Police said the person also made away with $500 worth of silvery jewelry from the business.

-----Tools stolen from business in Wallaceburg
Chatham-Kent police are for the public's help in locating DeWalt tools that were stolen from the RONA Cashway Building Centre on Murray Street in Wallaceburg.
Police said unknown suspects forced their way into the business early Saturday morning and caused about $1,000 in damages. The amount of tools stolen is worth about $900.

Woman charged after failing to comply with release conditions
The long arm of the law caught up with a 37-year-old woman after she was caught failing to comply with release conditions during a traffic stop in Wallaceburg.
Police said the woman was released from court with several conditions, one of those being to remain in her residence at all times, except for medical emergencies or when in the presence of her surety.
The woman was caught Saturday during a traffic stop on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.
She was charged and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
