Two drug busts in Chatham lead to six arrests
Six Chatham residents are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police executed a pair of search warrants in the city.
Police said members of the Intelligence Section and the Critical Incident Response Team carried out the searches on Wednesday and seized more than $1,170 worth of fentanyl and hydromorphone.
Officers also allegedly found multiple sets of digital scales, some ammunition, and a large amount of Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, 52-year-old Glen Gordon Brown of Chatham was charged with two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking along with three counts of failing to comply with a prohibition order. He was later released with a future court date.
Four other Chatham residents -- 31-year-old Natalie Marvel, 36-year-old Tiffany Martin, 39-year-old Matthew Kelly, and 45-year-old Terrence Hill -- were all charged with two counts each of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking. They were all later released with a future court date.
A sixth suspect was also arrested -- 28-year-old Megan Peters of Chatham -- and she was charged with two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of failing to comply with her release conditions. She was also later released with a future court date.

Vehicle crashes into train
The damage is estimated at $90,000 after a vehicle hit a moving train at a crossing on London Road in Thamesville.
Police said emergency crews were called to the scene at around 9 a.m. Wednesday, adding that there were no injuries reported as a result of the crash.
The driver of the motor vehicle was later charged with disobeying a railway crossing signal by proceeding unsafely.
