Taylor Hawkins, drummer for the band Foo Fighters has passed away at the age of 50.
The band confirmed his death late Friday evening on social media.
"The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever," the statement read. "Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family."
No cause of death has been revealed. The band is currently on tour in South America and was scheduled to perform at a music festival in Bogotá, Colombia Friday night. They are currently scheduled to make concert appearances in parts of Canada later this year.
Hawkins was born in Fort Worth, Texas before his family relocated to Laguna Beach in southern California.
He launched his drumming career in the 1990's and in 1995, he joined Canadian singer Alanis Morissette on her album Jagged Little Pill. He appeared in several of Morissette's music videos and accompanied her on two tours. In 1997, Hawkins joined Foo Fighters.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
