Erieau residents invited to share future goals for community

Plans are underway to discuss the future direction of Erieau.

The Erieau Community Association, in collaboration with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, will be holding two strategic planning sessions on Saturday, April 30.

During the meetings, information will be presented that was gathered last month through a survey on the Let's Talk Chatham-Kent website.

The goal of the Erieau Community Association Planning Committee is to develop a multi-year strategic plan, in partnership with the municipality, for the community related to projects which are prioritized by residents and property owners. The plan will provide direction for fundraising activities and the allocation of funds.

According to the association's chair Leo Heuvelmans, the group was pleased with the amount of interest generated by the survey which resulted in more than 400 visits and in excess of 250 comments.

“It’s good to see so many people with an interest in our community,” he said. “We have a good base of information to take to the meeting.”

There will be two three-hour long sessions, one at 9 a.m. and the second at 1:30 p.m. at the Erieau Community Hall. The same information will be presented at each session.

“We want to bring ideas to the table, get feedback from those who attend the meetings and begin to discuss if there are common themes, what projects should receive priority and examine costs,” Heuvelmans explained.

Those wishing to attend can register at Let's Talk Chatham-Kent until April 28.
