Walpole Island resident cashes in on lottery

A Walpole Island resident is $100,000 richer thanks to winning the top prize with Instant Block-O.

Kenneth Riley said he is a regular lottery player and instant tickets are his favourite games to play.

"I won this prize two days before my birthday. It's my first big win," he said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his prize.

The 38-year-old said he had a hunch that he needed the number four to win.

"The number came up and I burst into tears! I passed the ticket to my aunt and she started to cry too," Riley said. "We double-checked the win on the OLG App and we cried tears of joy together. I'm so glad I was able to share that moment with family."

He said this is a dream come true and plans to use his winnings to build a home.

The winning ticket was bought at Ann's Convenience & Video on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Appointments are required to claim prizes at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Corporation Prize Centre in Toronto.

"We strongly encourage those with claims between $1,000 and $49,999.90 to submit them online or mail them, as appointment availability at this prize level is limited," said OLG officials. "Submitting claims online is fast and secure."

Customers with prizes over $50,000 are asked to call 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available options to claim prizes.
