The 28-year-old unidentified man was seen by court house officers through surveillance video allegedly rummaging through the vehicles at the court house on Monday morning at around 9 a.m. after he allegedly broke into vehicles in neighbourhoods across Chatham throughout the night, according to police.

Court officers recognized the suspect from a notice sent out earlier that morning attempting to identify the male.

The accused was searched and was alleged to be in possession of property from nine different victims.

He has been charged with nine counts of theft under $5,000, nine counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and one count of using a stolen credit card.
