$3M announced for Dufferin Avenue repairs in Wallaceburg

Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg is getting some much-needed work.

Municipal officials confirmed Wednesday that $3 million in provincial funding has been approved for the project under the Connecting Links Funding Program.

"Through the Connecting Links Program, funding is provided to eligible municipalities for up to 90 per cent of eligible project costs, or up to a maximum of $3 million for road projects," a statement from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent said.

The Connecting Links Funding will provide the municipality with $3 million dollars to go toward eligible road reconstruction costs.

The municipality said it has been successful in the past in obtaining funding through this program for projects like the reconstruction of McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg in 2016, the rehabilitation of the Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg in 2018, and the reconstruction of Grand Avenue East in Chatham in 2020.

A construction start date has not yet been announced.
