COVID-19 outbreaks declared over at Chatham hospital

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is reporting that two COVID-19 outbreaks at the Chatham hospital have ended.

The outbreaks at the Complex Continuing Care Unit and the Medicine Unit were declared on May 10, 2022 and had reached a total of 10 cases. These units will return to Phase 3 “Green” restrictions. CKHA's Essential Visitor and Care Partner Access policy remains in Phase 3 “Green” also.

Questions or concerns about visitor restrictions can be directed to the primary nurse and/or Patient Relations.

"CKHA would like to thank CK Public Health for their guidance and support during these outbreaks, and the hospital’s staff and physicians for their continued commitment to providing safe, high-quality care under these difficult circumstances," said CKHA in a statement on Thursday.

Hospital officials said Infection Prevention and Control measures will remain in place across the hospitals in Chatham and in Wallaceburg and CKHA will continue to review and monitor the impact of the pandemic on its operations.

CKHA is reminding the community that the hospital remains a safe place to receive care.

"If you are experiencing an emergent acute care need, please do not hesitate to dial 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department," CKHA said.
