Dresden Raceway hosts OLG Ontario Women's Championship again

On Sunday, the top female harness drivers across Ontario will be at the Dresden Raceway for the second annual OLG Ontario Women's Championship.

It's the second of five races after just two last year. The first is Saturday at the Hanover Raceway, and the final is in October at the Western Fair Grounds on October 14.

The Dresden Raceway and the Hanover Raceway hosted the races last year.

Western Fair Raceway joined the competition this year, along with a stop at the Grand River Raceway on August 12 and the Leamington Raceway on September 25. Each track will have five races on a race card.

Nine riders are participating, including Natasha Day, the returning champion. The other eight are Marie Claude Auger, Marielle Enberg, Pam Forgie, Samara Johnson, Maggie Jones, Debi O'Brien-Moran, Julie Walker, and Windsor native Brittany Kennedy.

The series is raising money for Harness The Hope, a breast cancer charity founded 17 years ago with deep roots in the harness racing community. Drivers will donate their earnings to the cause.
