Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is reporting another COVID-19 outbreak, this time in the Medicine A Unit in Chatham.
According to hospital officials, this outbreak has four cases and is in addition to the outbreak declared on Wednesday in the Complex Continuing Care (CCC) Unit in Chatham.
CKHA said the public health unit will work closely with the hospital to manage the outbreaks and will continue to work in consultation until the outbreak is declared over.
"As part of CKHA’s pandemic response action plan and in alignment with the hospital’s infection prevention and control guidelines, a number of additional initiatives have been implemented in response to the outbreaks on the Medicine A and CCC Unit (4th Floor). CKHA will continue following these measures until Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health rescinds the outbreak order," said CKHA in a statement. "Since the onset of this pandemic, CKHA has taken decisive and immediate action with the ever-evolving dynamics of COVID-19. The safety of staff, physicians, patients, care partners, visitors and the community at large, has and will remain the top priority."
CKHA reminds the community that the hospital remains a safe place to receive care.
Hospital officials urge the public to call 911 or visit their nearest Emergency Department if they are experiencing an emergency.
