Train crash near Bothwell

No injuries were reported, but police are still reminding drivers to exercise extreme caution near all railway crossings after a collision between a passenger vehicle and a train near Bothwell.

Chatham-Kent police said that the collision took place shortly before 4 p.m. Monday on Zone Road 4.

The Canadian Pacific Police Service has taken the lead on the investigation now.

Police asking for tips after a suspicious fire

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after a fire in an open lot on Park Avenue in Chatham overnight.

Police said by the time emergency crews arrived at the scene near Hyslop Street shortly before 11 p.m. Monday, several bushes and trees were on fire.

The flames were put out and no injuries or damages to other property were reported.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Gary Oriet at garyor@chatham-kent.ca.

Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Police investigating four recent break-ins

Chatham-Kent police are asking for your help to solve four break-ins that all took place between Sunday and Monday afternoon.

Investigators said the incidents took place on Charing Cross Road in Chatham, Grand Avenue East in Chatham, Gillard Street in Wallaceburg, and Brook Line in Dresden.

Officers said over $1,500 worth of property was reported stolen.

Police are also trying to identify the person pictured below in connection with the break-in on Grand Avenue East.
