Chatham Coloured All-Stars brought back to life in popular MLB video game

The Chatham Coloured All-Stars will show up in a popular video game before they appear in the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

The team, which was snubbed once again by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this year, is being given new life in the latest edition of MLB The Show.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) teamed up with Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society to recreate the iconic 1934 team and add them to the video game.

"We wanted to bring a spotlight to the team," said OLG Director of Media Relations Tony Bitonti. "We revived the 1934 team in one of baseball's most popular video games."

The game now includes the team, their home baseball field, uniforms, and team artifacts.

Here's how you can play the game in MLB The Show 22:

Download the logo and roster

• On the MLB The Show 22 home screen, select the create menu and then select vaults.

• In the logo vault, search 'Chatham All-Stars' and download the logo.

• Head to the roster vault, search 'Chatham All-Stars' and download the roster.

Build the team

• On the MLB The Show 22 home screen, select franchise mode, then select start new, then select load saved roster.

The Tampa Bay Rays roster has now been updated to include the Chatham Coloured All-Stars roster.

• Navigate to The Tampa Bay Rays, select Custom Team then select Create New Custom Team.

Once in the Custom Team menu

• Select team details and change the name to ‘Chatham All-Stars’

• Select logo editor and import the Chatham All-Stars logo

• Select uniform and change the uniform design to white with black pinstripes and change the hat colour to black.

‘Field of Honour’ game returns to Chatham Saturday, September 24 

A baseball game aimed at honouring the legacy of the Chatham Coloured All-Stars is set to return to the area.

The second Field of Honour Chatham Coloured All-Stars Charity Baseball Game will take place on Saturday, September 24 at Fergie Jenkins Field in Chatham.

The first pitch is set for 11 a.m. with the Golden Agers. A second game for the New Generation starts at 1:45 p.m.

According to Bitonti, there will also be a pre-game event at 10:30 a.m. and a chance for residents to preview the video game featuring the iconic All-Stars.

The game is free to attend. Donations are accepted and all the money raised will go directly to the Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society & Black Mecca Museum.

"We've been working with the Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society on this project and we are very proud of what is going to happen," said Bitonti.
