Service Ontario offices re-opening to public as pandemic fades

The Service Ontario offices in Chatham and Dresden will be open to walk-in customers once again next week.

During the pandemic, customers could only access those provincial offices for service by appointment only because of high demand and long wait times, but that will change on Monday.

"Even as we have begun transitioning out of the peak of the pandemic, we are still seeing fluctuations in patrons visiting our offices from other areas. We have been able to make some operational changes that we believe will provide solutions to these business surges," said the municipality in a news release on Thursday.

The municipality also said offices will continue to offer appointments for customer convenience. Appointments can be booked by calling 311 (locally) or 519-360-1998 or by emailing CK311@chatham-kent.ca.

Customers are also being encouraged to visit the Service Ontario website at www.serviceontario.ca for up-to-date office hours.

Municipal officials also remind the public that appointments are still not required for any municipal services offered at the Dresden Service Ontario office.
