Man arrested for public intoxication

A 19-year-old spent some time sobering up in police custody after being located on King Street early Saturday morning.

Police said the man was found unable to care of himself.

He was arrested and and taken to police headquarters and lodged until he sober. Distracted driving  

Chatham-Kent police are reminding residents about distracted driving.

Police say distracted driving is any action that a driver engages in that takes their focus away from the safe operation of their vehicles which includes, but is not limited to, the use of hand-held communication and entertainment devices.

Distracted drivers are a safety risk to themselves and other road users.

A driver can face a Highway Traffic Act charge of $615.
