Wallaceburg shooting costs Wilkesport man

A Wilkesport man has been sentenced for his part in a shooting in Wallaceburg two summers ago.

Jonathon Clark, 28, was originally charged with attempted murder in July of 2021, but pleaded guilty in March to charges of possessing a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

Clark was sentenced on Thursday in a Chatham court to two years less a day, but still has 48 days left to serve at the Windsor jail after getting enhanced credit for time already served.

The shooting took place on a Sunday afternoon in July 2021 at the intersection of Victoria Street and King Street in Wallaceburg. Police said an officer on general patrol pulled over a vehicle with some damage that was "suspicious in nature." The officer later learned that an altercation took place with shots being exchanged between the driver and two people he knows.

The charges against Clark’s co-accused, Tashia Houle of Wallaceburg, were withdrawn in March after Clark pleaded guilty.
