Florence teen charged after assault in Wallaceburg

A 14-year-old youth from Florence is facing some serious charges after a 16-year-old from Sarnia was allegedly assaulted at a residence in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the disturbance on Margaret Avenue just before 4 p.m. Wednesday, adding that when officers arrived, they found the two people involved leaving the area.

Officers said their investigation showed that the victim had been assaulted with a bottle in a nearby residence and was followed outside by the accused after leaving the home.

Police said the altercation continued outside of the residence and that the victim received medical attention for their injuries.

A 14-year-old Florence youth was charged with assault, assault with a weapon, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, and assault causing bodily harm.

The youth was later released to a parent with conditions and a future court date.
