Both of Chatham-Kent's main power providers are responding to outages around the municipality.
Entegrus reported significant outages in Chatham, estimating 2,985 customers were without power around 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Some areas of the city were hit harder than others, particularly north Chatham. Around 6 p.m., the power provider tweeted that the municipality's power had been restored.
Meanwhile, Entegrus also reported approximately 60 customers were experiencing power outages in Ridgetown on Friday evening. With weather conditions impacting their ability to travel, the company says these residents can expect power to be restored by 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The company tweeted about another outage in Erieau due to loss of supply from Hydro One. They did not have an estimated time of restoration. Earlier in the day, there was also an outage in Blenheim affecting about 14 customers, which seems to have been resolved.
A notice posted by Entegrus' Twitter account said their response times may "take longer than usual" as they keep the safety of their employees and their customers at the top of their priority list.
Entegrus tweeted that their toll-free phone line was down. To report a power outage, they now ask customers to call 1-888-417-6659.
Hydro One also reported a handful of outages in an area south of Wallaceburg along with others between Chatham and Ridgetown and about 230 customers in Rondeau.
Hydro One also noted that poor road conditions are "posing accessibility issues to our teams."
