Victim suffers serious injuries during shooting in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a shooting in Wallaceburg.

Police said a 42-year-old man was shot in the area of Murray Street and Earl Street in Wallaceburg at approximately 7 a.m. on Friday following an altercation with someone.

The victim was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with serious injuries, according to police.

"Members of the Major Crime Section continue to investigate and ask that anyone with video surveillance in the areas of Murray Street, Wallace Street, and Earl Street to please contact police," wrote Public Information Officer Sergeant Lynette Hodder in a news release.

Police said this is an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety.
