Man wanted for leaving stolen car running in CK carpool lot arrested almost five years later
Chatham-Kent police were also able to clear a second long-standing warrant off their books when police in the Strathroy area gave them a call on Thursday.
The case goes back to April 12, 2018, when CK police were called to investigate an abandoned running car in a carpool area on Kent Bridge Road in Howard Township.
Officers learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Hamilton a day earlier, but no suspects were located in the area, so they examined the vehicle and collected some DNA evidence.
Investigators were able to use that evidence to identify a suspect and they issued a warrant for his arrest, but he didn't turn up until CK police got a call from the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service just after noon on Thursday, advising they had the man in custody.
