Police catch up with man wanted for stealing from Chatham business

The law has come calling for a 33-year-old Chatham man who was wanted in connection with a theft at a business in Chatham two weeks ago.

Chatham-Kent police said he had been identified as a suspect in a theft from a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham on March 21 where video surveillance allegedly showed him removing some merchandise from the shelves before he left the store without paying for the items.

Officers found him on Murray Street in Chatham over the noon-hour on Monday when they were responding to a disturbance call.

The accused was charged with theft and possession of stolen property and he was later released with a future court date of April 24.

 

Police hoping to identify individual in arson investigation 

Chatham-Kent police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying an individual in connection wuth an ongoing arson investigation.

According to police, the arson occurred on February 22 on Cross Street in Chatham.

Police arrest woman wanted for theft back in 2019

A 26-year-old Wallaceburg woman is learning the hard way that arrest warrants don't have an expiration date.

Police said the woman was wanted in connection with a theft investigation from November 4, 2019.

An officer on general patrol caught up with her on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg just after 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.

She was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property and was later released with a future court date.

Tilbury woman arrested for failing to show up for court

A 36-year-old Tilbury woman who was wanted for failing to attend court has turned herself in.

Officers said she showed up at the police station in Tilbury shortly before 10 p.m. Monday and was arrested there before she was later released with a future court date.

Harwich Township man sobers up in police custody

A 36-year-old Harwich Township man spent some time in a holding cell at CK police headquarters overnight after he was arrested at an address on Chatham Street South in Blenheim late Monday night.

Police said they arrested the man at around 11:15 p.m. Monday after they received a call about a disturbance and allegedly found the man to be intoxicated and disruptive.

He was arrested for breaching the peace and was taken into custody until he was sober.

Wanted Blenheim man arrested just south of town

A 26-year-old Blenheim man who was wanted for failing to attend court spent some time in police custody on Monday after he was arrested on Chatham Street South just outside of Blenheim.

Police said they found the man at 9 a.m. Monday and took him into custody for while before he was later released with a future court date.
