There will be some detours through downtown Chatham on Wednesday as crews work to remove some debris that has piled up in the Thames River.
Chatham-Kent police said the Fifth Street Bridge and the Third Street Bridge will have some alternating closures for that after the high water levels pushed some debris into the bridges.
The Fifth St. Bridge was already closed as of 9 a.m. Wednesday and was set to stay closed until about 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. Wednesday.
Shortly after that closure is done, the Third St. Bridge will be closed for approximately three hours.
Police are advising drivers to plan accordingly and they are thanking motorists for their patience.
Officials at the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority are expecting the water levels on the Thames River to peak in Chatham on Wednesday after peaking in Thamesville late Tuesday night.
A flood warning was issued on Tuesday for areas along the Thames River in Chatham-Kent and that warning was expected to stay in effect until Friday unless otherwise posted.
