What’s open and what’s closed over Easter weekend in CK

Easter has arrived and that means a few closures around Chatham-Kent.

Municipal offices will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Municipal services will also be affected by the holiday long weekend.

Garbage collection services in Chatham-Kent will only be affected by Good Friday. Those residents who would normally receive curbside collection on Friday, April 7 will receive it on Saturday, April 8. There are no collection changes for the week of April 10. All transfer stations and leaf and yard depots will be closed on Friday.

Meanwhile, residents will want to ensure they have a way of getting around as CK Transit will not be operating on Friday.

The Blenheim Arena and Chatham Thames Campus Arena will be open for scheduled rentals on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday but all other arenas will be closed. Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool will be closed on Friday, Sunday, and Monday, but will be open for regular hours on Saturday. On Saturday, Play Rangers will be at Gable Rees Rotary Pool from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, all branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library will be closed on Friday and Monday. Branches normally open on Saturdays will remain open. All municipal arts and culture venues will also be closed on Friday and Monday.

Entegrus and the Public Utilities Commission will be closed on Friday and Monday. The emergency call number is 519-352-6300.

At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, several health care services will be altered on both Good Friday and  Easter Monday.

Ambulatory care services, outpatient rehabilitation services, pre-surgical screening services, the diabetes education centre, the TIA and CAD clinics, pulmonary function lab, outpatient lab services, health records and patient appointment offices will be closed on Friday and Monday as well as Elston Pharmacy at the Chatham site and the business and cashier’s office.

However, during the statutory holidays, some outpatient diagnostic tests will take place. Patients with scheduled diagnostic tests are advised to attend their appointments. These departments will also be staffed to meet the needs of inpatients and emergencies.

The Chatham-Kent Mental Health and Addictions Program Outpatient Department will be closed on both days along with The Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine clinic.  Any immediate crises can be dealt with by calling the crisis line at 1-866-299-7447 or visiting the nearest emergency room.

Additionally, during evenings, weekend and on holidays, the Homeless Emergency Response Line can be reached at 519-354-6628

Public Health King Street in Chatham will be closed on Friday and Monday. Essential after-hours public health services are available by calling 1-866-446-8207.

As per usual, emergency services and emergency rooms at areas hospitals will remain open 24 hours daily.
