Sarnia man arrested for skipping court
A 51-year-old Sarnia man is in more trouble with the law after he allegedly skipped a scheduled court date.
Chatham-Kent police said the man was initially charged with several offences including obstructing police and possession of stolen property on October 9, 2022.
Officers caught up with him just after 3 p.m. on Thursday on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
He was arrested and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Woman wanted for shoplifting arrested in Chatham
A 38-year-old Chatham woman who was wanted for allegedly stealing from a business on King Street East in Chatham two weeks ago is facing charges now.
Chatham-Kent police said their investigation started on March 31 when they were called to the business for a theft investigation, adding that video surveillance showed the woman taking an item from the shelf and then hiding it before she left without paying for it.
Police said they were able to identify the woman and a warrant was issued for her arrest, but officers didn't catch up with her until just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
She was arrested on Colborne Street in Chatham and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
The woman was taken to police headquarters and then later released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted Wallaceburg man arrested
A 34-year-old Wallaceburg man who was wanted by police for failing to attend court had another brief stay in police custody.
Police said they found the man during a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg just after 9 p.m. Thursday.
Officers confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant, so they arrested him.
He was later released with a future court date.

Local man wanted by London police arrested in Chatham
Chatham-Kent police managed to do a favour for their colleagues in London Thursday night by picking up a wanted man.
CK police said an officer on general patrol found the man on Eighth Street in Chatham just before 11 p.m. Thursday.
Police confirmed the man was wanted in connection with an incident in Chatham-Kent earlier in the day in addition to being wanted by the London Police Service.
The man was arrested and charged with obstructing police, theft, and possession of stolen property.
He was taken to police headquarters in Chatham, then later released with conditions and handed over to London police for court purposes.

Chatham man pulled off the road for impaired driving
A 26-year-old Chatham man is facing an impaired driving charge after an early morning traffic stop in Chatham.
CK police said they pulled a vehicle over on Fifth Street in Chatham just after 1:15 a.m. Friday and believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
A roadside test was administered and the driver was then taken to police headquarters for further tests.
A 26-year-old man was charged with having a blood alcohol level over the legal limit and he was later released with conditions and a future court date.
