There's a need for volunteers in Chatham-Kent on a couple of fronts.
The municipality is calling on volunteers to join the Chatham-Kent Food Policy Council and the Together CK Review Committee.
The food policy council falls under the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit and is comprised of community members, and other key partners from various sectors that represent the local food system. Their mission is to develop relevant policies and to advocate for our local food system.
“A Food Policy Council provides a space for interested folks to gather around, so to speak” said CK Public Health Nutritionist Sharmini Balakrishnan. “Rather than a number of different advocates working in silos, on separate issues around the food system, a Food Policy Council creates the opportunity for coordination and integration, and is much more efficient.”
Members must be at least 18 years of age and must live, work or provide service in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
Application must be in by Friday, April 28, 2023.
More information about the Chatham-Kent Food Policy Council can be found here.
The Together CK Review Committee is looking to fill two volunteer positions to review and evaluate community grant applications on behalf of the municipality and make recommendations to Council.
The Together CK Grant Program is a municipal grant matching program that provides 50 per cent funding to community groups for events and projects.
The Committee is seeking individuals with a background in finance, social services, or other relevant fields.
Applicants must be of legal age, a resident of Chatham-Kent, and able to attend monthly meetings.
Individuals can submit a resume and complete the online application form by clicking here.
The deadline for applications is Friday, May 5, 2023.
