The women's softball coach at St. Clair College has been named the inaugural winner of a provincewide award.
Doug Wiseman was named the winner of the first Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Coach of the Year Award, for his continued success leading the Saints' women's softball squad.
Wiseman was chosen from nominees representing all Ontario college athletic departments and individual sports.
The Saints came off an undefeated season during which they compiled a 24-0 record for the first time. St. Clair won its fifth OCAA championship and its first since 2014.
St. Clair's women's softball team allowed only 20 runs all season, which averaged out to less than one per game. The Saints also broke three OCAA team regular season records, including the most RBI in a season with 253, the most hits at 318, and the most runs in a season with 277.
Wiseman will be presented with his award at the tenth annual OCAA Hall of Fame ceremony, which will take place at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts in Windsor on May 1.
